The Island Super Sprint and Regularity Anniversary Event

Sunday, 13 September 2015

A return to the ever popular Phillip Island after our very successful event there in February. Again we have secured a 95dBA noise limit.

For this event, we are going to incorporate a 30 minute regularity in the afternoon of our sprint day as part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations. You can enter for the regularity or the sprint events, or both.

REGULARITY EVENT

The Regularity will be a single participant 30 minute Modern Regularity. The event will start at 4.15 and run until 4.45pm, and is won by the driver who comes closest to his/her nominated time spread out over the 30 minutes of track time. It should be a very interesting way to have a block of track time, at one of the best circuits in Australia, in a group of the best sports cars in the world in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Porsche Club of Victoria.

The track density limit is 58 cars. If we get sufficient entries, we may run as two 30 minute 40+ car sessions. The aim will be to fit everybody in safely. Only drivers who have competed at the circuit can enter, and we are encouraging past competitors to join us in this event and reacquaint yourself with a great track and old friends.

The regularity is open to any club member that has a CAMS L1 or higher level licence and some track driving experience in the last 3 years.

The regularity will not contribute to the competition point score and entrants do not need to have their vehicles competition registered. Trophies will be awarded on the day to the placegetters.

For regularity only entrants, a CAMS Level 1 licence can be obtained online from https://www.cams.com.au for a cost of $62. Vehicles do not need to be fitted with a fire extinguisher.

SPRINT EVENT

Normal PCV competition sprint sessions will comprise the majority of the day.
Sprint event entrants need to have a CAMS L2S licence as a minimum and have their vehicles competition registered and compliant with the PCV Competition Rules 2015.

Competition Classes

Evidence of prior experience or satisfactory completion of a high performance driver-training course is a Club requirement for the timed competition classes.  All competitors will require a Dorian transponder to be fitted to their cars for official times to be recorded. Please make sure they are properly fitted and charged. Dorians can be hired for the day, but must be booked at time of entry.

Entrée Class – Sprint Sessions only

Entree Class will be run at Phillip Island. Entree Class is the ideal racetrack introduction for new members and those who haven't competed before. Entree Class numbers are limited.  Entrants in the entrée class get separate sessions of un-timed practice. Instructors will be provided from experienced club members. No advanced driver training, fire extinguishers or Dorians are required. All you need is a CAMS Level 2S Licence, an approved helmet, suitable clothing (see Supp Regs) and a roadworthy vehicle. This is the perfect introduction to track days for new members. Please note Entrée Class numbers are strictly limited.  Click Here for further Entree class information.

Catering
The normal Phillip Island kiosk will be open, however to make the best use of the track time with the regularity being added as an additional element, it has been decided to not have a formal lunch break.

PCV Marshalling Team - Please contact Mark Behan via email if you are available to assist with this event or are new and would like to give marshalling a try. PCV Marshals will manage the track from start until about 1300, and then MMV will take over so Marshals can have a leisurely lunch and either participate in or watch the regularity.
