Registrations closed.

This year our annual Southern Driver Training Day will be held again at Levels Raceway, Timaru on 6 August.  Driver Training has several components.  In the morning, after you register and the cars are scrutineered for safety, we have a Drivers Safety Briefing and a classroom session conducted by our Chief Instructor. This is followed by a series of exercises on the track  (braking exercise, a slalom exercise and short circuit instruction). Last year we did several grass gymkhana runs too. (This is dependent on the weather, the number of drivers and instructors.)  Then in the afternoon, “one on one” full circuit instruction with licensed race drivers.

We can accommodate two drivers using one car as long as both drivers have pre-registered.

This event is not just for Porsche sports cars and certainly not just for faster drivers.  We believe every driver would benefit from a Driver Training day, as you will learn skills that will make you a safer driver, and possibly keep you from harm on the road. There is no pressure to drive at speeds beyond what you are comfortable with, but equally you will have the opportunity to hone your driving skills and see just what your vehicle is capable of.  In the past, in addition to the various Porsche models,  we have had a variety of different makes and models of cars including a Lotus Exige and a Ford Explorer complete with Ski Box.  We would love to see some more Porsche SUVs and Panameras.

We also hold a ladies only group; so ladies, when doing laps on the full circuit during the afternoon, you won't be monstered by males hooning in their faster cars!  As long as we have enough ladies register, we will have a Ladies Only group for the afternoon runs again this year.

In past years, many of us stay overnight the night before and after the event.  We have rooms set aside at the Benvenue Hotel.  We also organise a dinner at the Benvenue on the Saturday night and all drivers and spectators are encouraged to attend for a typical PCNZ fun evening.

We recommend that your drive down on Friday afternoon as we need cars on site by 8:30 am Saturday 6th.

We are limited to 30 cars so we suggest that you register early.  A Waitlist will be run after the first 30 members register.

As we always get high demand for this event, we ask that experienced drivers refrain initially to allow less experienced drivers to register first.

Morning coffee and lunch are provided.
