The road from Milford to Ellerslie turned out to be a lot longer than I had thought possible. I have owned our Speedster since 1996 and it had been part of the family for almost 20 years when I decided that it was time that I got it ready for the next 20. It had been a good driver, although a close look revealed the scars of a life of heavy use and abuse. The passenger door would occasionally fly open under heavy cornering so I knew that the car was a bit floppy and there were some dodgy bumps, hollows and rust bubbles in the bodywork so it was clear that accident damage and the nearly 60 years of exposure to the elements had taken their toll.
