Arrive at 8.00am for 9.00am start, 12.30 finish.

The autocross is a timed event where participants will compete guided by cones on the track around a 1.6km circuit. Do not confuse this with the skid pan, this is a standing start, high speed second and third gear driving event.  You will reach some reasonable speeds and this event was very popular with club members last year.

There will be three categories: Pre 2000, 2000 and onwards as well as dedicated competition vehicles, with an actual chocolate fish for the fastest time in each class.

To participate you simply need:

  • to be a club member
  • have a drivers’ licence
  • wear a helmet, FHR and a single layer fire retardant race suit.  (All of which can be hired directly from Hampton Downs.)

There will also be indemnity forms for you to complete prior to the day.

Numbers are strictly limited to 30 and open to road and dedicated competition cars.

Unfortunately, the Hampton Downs regulations preclude the inclusion of road worthy cabriolets other than Boxsters, Targas and late 911 Cabriolet models vehicles with factory roll over protection (996 or newer).  Any other cabriolet requires a roll cage to comply.

POINTS TO NOTE:

  • Frontal Head Restraints (FHR) are mandatory. For vehicles that have a 4 point harness or greater there are various tethered devices available including Hans, NecksGen REV, Impact Accel or Simpson Hybrid. All of these are acceptable. For vehicles fitted with a standard lap and diagonal 3-point belt system – a foam roll / collar is acceptable.
  • Dedicated Competition Vehicles are welcome but must comply with all requirements of MSNZ Appendix 2 Schedule A. This includes clothing requirements (fire retardant shoes and gloves) and your car’s log book.
  • All cars (including dedicated competition vehicles) will be scrutineered by a MSNZ Scrutineer. It is recommended that you have your car checked by a technician prior to the event.

Cost:  $295 per driver.

Entries should be made through the MotorSport Online system. Entries will not be deemed valid until payment is received.  Alternatively, entries may be made via the PCNZ website and must be complete in all details, and accompanied by the appropriate fee.

NOTE:  It is the organiser’s preference that all entries from those competitors with dedicated competition vehicles enter via the MSNZ Online system, as they will already have a log in to the system.  It would be appreciated that other competitors do this also, if you are unsure how to do this please contact Donna Elder.

Gear Hire to be paid direct to Hampton Downs on the day:

  • Suit hire $30
  • FHR hire $30
  • Helmet hire $30

Hireage is on a first come first served basis, so if you require gear please email to ensure it is available for you.

Any queries, please contact Steff Chambers 021 1186210 or Donna Elder 021 773266 or  e-mail the Club.
