The Porsche Club Tasmania was founded in early 2003 by a small group of Porsche enthusiasts. John Pooley, our inaugural President, and his Porsche dealership, Performance Automobiles of Hobart, provided facilities and support to get the Club off to a flying start. In the first year, membership climbed steadily towards fifty members, a committee was elected and events and activities planned. Looking back , the first 15 years have been a tremendous success, with members from all over Tasmania participating in a variety of social and motorsport activities.

John Pooley , Tasmanian Rally champion 1972 , Targa Tasmania Hall of Famer (2008) , Formula V racer, Baskerville Historic racing etc etc!

Retiring President's speech Oct 13th 2018

Cryptic drives finishing at a winery or restaurant have been extremely well attended, and the President's dinner , cocktail functions and show 'n' shine events have proved very popular. Many members have got to know Baskerville and Symmons Plains racetracks by participating in Porsche Club Tasmania's Driver Training Days and Hillclimb events, where they have explored the handling potential of their Porsches in a safe environment.

Those of us still working (!) comprise a broad section of trades & professions and thus there is always plenty of conversation on the menu at each club event.

The committee meets each month to plan future events ; your input is most welcome (see contact page).
