Charity Drive at Aldo Scribante
Sunday morning 11th March was a Happy morning at the Vistarus Mission
Station for 40 junior school children. These children were told earlier in
the week of the adventure that was in store for them. They could hardly
contain themselves when the bus pulled up at the home to take them to the
Aldo Scribante Race track.
15 Porsches awaited them. The children were given rides around the track.
There was much arguing about who went the fastest and which car and driver
was a hot favourite. A lot of the boys were soon connoisseurs about
Porsches and knew which Porsche models they had driven in and how fast they
had been. The children were given lunch with cold drinks, packs of
stationary and toiletries.
None of this would have been possible with out the generosity of the Porsche
club members who gave up their time and shared the joy of their super
Porsches and the Algoa Motor Sport club for arranging the race track. The
Porsche club members also had a lot of fun stretching the legs of their mean
machines.
Monetary and generous donations came for FNB Private Wealth and other FNB
subsidiaries, Mobil also gave monetary donations and caps, Spar donated the
padkos, MacLear Wholesale stationers donated stationary. Thank you to them
all.
We all know how great it feels to receive gifts. However, the joy of getting
is short-lived. Our lives are richer when we share, and that great inner joy
comes from helping others to better their lives. This was experienced by
those who invested time in these Vistarus children.
