A WOMANS DAY AT THE RACES

The 9th of September is Women's Day, and a regular Power Series race day in the Killarney raceway calendar.

Every year Analie Mathee always does something to honour the lovely women of our club, and this year was no exception. She made us pink and white orchid brooches to war on the day, and the ladies all wore them with smiles.

Racing being a male-dominant pursuit, we decided to celebrate the women of the Porsche Club with a High Tea.

The menu was rosé sparkling wine, potato rosti, with smoked salmon and crème fraiche, phyllo pastry bites filled with zucchini and feta, or bootie, delicious cheese boards from Lynda, and chocolate ganache and rainbow cupcakes, thanks to Roxanne Plit.

The high tea was enjoyed by the ladies, and just as much by the men. The Club just wanted to recognise the women of the club, on the day. I'd like to particularly thank Lynda Wentzel, Robyn and Birgit Lamm, who take care of us, and feed us at every meeting, always with smiles, and care. Your hard work in the tiny kitchen is appreciated, not only on Women's Day!

A notice went out to members, but not all the women were informed, that we are collecting gently used handbags, filled with essential products for women in need.

If you did not get the message, this will be an ongoing collection, to help women less fortunate than ourselves, and I'd like to ask you to bring them along to any club event. Venessa Lees will distribute them to ladies in need.

Contents should be along the lines of sanitary towels, tooth brush and toothpaste, hairbrush, lip balm, shampoo.

I'd like to make this something we do regularly, as there are many women who don't have the basic necessities.
