This is the tale of two Porsche 356 Coupes that had these options included on their individual factory KARDEX build instruction........
- Rechtslenkung = right hand drive
- Durchgehende Sitzbank = through bench seat
Both Coupes have now been in New Zealand since the early 1960s and although not ordered through the New Zealand Distributor, they were registered as “ex overseas” or “used private imports”, also commonly known as “suitcase cars” for returning New Zealanders.
One is a 356A T2 1600 Super Coupe which started life as a new car into Australia in 1958 and was shipped here in October 1961. The other is a 356B T5 Super 90 Coupe which was delivered new to the Singapore market and then travelled to New Zealand arriving here in February 1963.
