PCI-Southeast Breakfast meeting in Gorey

I slipped out of the house around 9 am to make it up to our Breakfast meeting for 10 am in the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey Co. Wexford. Heading out the weather wasn’t that great but as we were only sitting inside having a “big fat Fry” I wasn’t too worried about the weather throwing a spanner into the works of the event.

There was little Traffic on the road as I was heading northwards and found my way along my usual route via Wexford, Enniscorthy and Ferns, Camolin and so on. On arrival I trailed into the Car park behind Noel as he arrived at the same time and I was happy to see already about 3 other Porsche’s in the park. Stepping out and greeting the lads we as usual had the general chit chat before Chris and his friends Peter and James arrived in their 924’s.

A surprising sight since sadly we do not see that many of them around anymore apart from one red one I know who comes to the Terenure vintage and Car show for the last years now. It looks to like Chris single handed is keeping the 924’s alive in and around Ferns and the greater Wexford County area.

After a quick smoke and chatter we all headed up to the entry of the Hotel not to miss our breakfast even though you would have liked to hang around the cars and chat on and on. Vincent and I were heading for the lift as the restaurant was a floor up and by some peculiar mistake we both ended up on the 3rd floor and made the grand tour of all the floors before we hit the Restaurant. The Lads kept an eye out for us as they realised we must have been lost in the big building.

It was help yourself service as Oscar and I helped ourselves after Chris to all the ingredients of a “Big Fat Fry“, chatting along we noticed that our favourite “fried eggs” were missing. Oscar took charge and ordered fried Eggs and Tea as well as a can of Coffee for our Table. My Partner in Crime going to the Karting Venue’s Andy had his two sons with him as well as Rueben with his son tucked into the Fry’s with gusto as all of us did and the conversations rolled around the table.

I couldn’t have imagined a greater morning and conversations than we had, with Chris keeping us amused as well as his friend Peter who is a connoisseur when it comes to cars and is big into restoring rare vintage cars and had amazing stories to tell. I did miss a few of the lads who mentioned they would be there but Neil arrived after a long night out as did Paul and we added another table to ours to accommodate the arrivals. I asked Noel if he had bought the papers as this was our cover-story to come for breakfast to our Girls at home.

As it always is we did tease out our meeting as long as we could, but when the Hotel staff around 12 o’clock started to work their way towards us in removing breakfast dishes and prepared for the Lunch guests we slowly made our way to the reception, paid for the damage and headed back to our cars.

It was then Noel let me have a little drive in his beautiful left-hand drive 911 3.2 around the park and I still couldn’t get over the colour and great condition of Rueben’s Speed Yellow Targa, as well as I really like the wheels on Oscar’s 996 and of course the 996 Turbo and Andy’s 996 4S. All in all I think we had a great success in holding the first breakfast meeting in the Southeast and it was concluded we will have many more in the New Year.

In the meantime I would like to thank everybody for coming and making this a great breakfast session, hope to see you all soon again

Stay safe and be happy

Many thanks George
